Collective Impact Leadership Institute

The Collective Impact Leadership Institute fosters leadership among men, women, and youth who have been directly impacted by the criminal justice system. It is committed to investing in the personal transformation of all formerly incarcerated men, women, and youth working to build their lives in Richmond and throughout Contra Costa County. More than 200 community members directly impacted by incarceration, their family members, and faith leaders have participated in a collective learning and power building experience. Exposing leader to the basics of community organizing, violence prevention, and personal transformation strategies that are culturally based. As well as Media and communication tactics, leading to community actions, and civic engagement strategies at a local, regional, and State level.

collective learning and empowerment  Our expectation is that by the end of the ten weeks this cohort of up to 20 formerly incarcerated leaders will engage residents in community education events around re-entry and public safety issues. Participants are also expected to participate in civic engagement activities, giving testimony at public hearings, and leading community actions.
